A Note of Hope 2009

On May 2, 2009, Covenant Mercies hosted its second biannual benefit concert, A Note of Hope, to the delight of a tremendous audience of loyal friends and music-lovers who came out in support of our cause.

Lending their time and considerable talents to A Note of Hope were (left to right in the picture above) Sumi Tonooka on piano, Rosella Clemmons Washington on vocals, John Blake Jr. on violin, Gerald Veasley, on bass, Chris Farr on saxophone, and Donald Robinson on keyboards/synth. Also contributing (but not visible in the photo) was Harry “Butch” Reed on drums.

More than simply a great evening of entertainment, this exceptional lineup of musicians created a musical celebration of the hope Covenant Mercies provides to nearly 1,000 orphaned children in Uganda, Zambia, and Ethiopia. In the process, they also helped us to raise over $15,000 toward that end, with post-event gifts still trickling in.

Professionally filmed and recorded in partnership with Citygate Films, A Note of Hope 2009 is part of a documentary film project that will culminate in a trip to Africa with five of our musicians. We will let you know when audio and video products are available for purchase.

We are grateful to all who attended A Note of Hope this year, and we look forward to seeing you there next time!
